Purpose of the Murphy Initiative
The Murphy Initiative is envisioned as a common voice of 14 religious communities to work collaboratively for social justice and to support and supplement the ongoing justice and peace work within each community.
4 Goals of the Murphy Initiative
Goal 1- Peacemaking
The Murphy Initiative sponsors, creates and/or promotes endeavors that foster justice and peace both locally and globally.
Goal 2- Justice in the Church
The Murphy Initiative promotes justice within the Church and society in a way that is informed by a spirit of peace making.
Goal 3- Intercultural Relations
The Murphy Initiative advocates for increased intercultural experiences and action by the members of religious communities, by the local Church and by the general public.
Goal 4- Education for Peace and Justice
The Murphy Initiative promotes an understanding of the seven basic principles of Catholic Social Teaching and their implications in society.
